You hastely decided...
>> Look out Best Buy, I agettin' a tape drive!

WAIT.

I would reccomend that you get a DAT, 8mm, or other higher end scsi
drive.

Ponder and ruminate on this. Everything is fine... You are backing up
your data on your "consumer end low level el cheapo tape drive bargain
de jour. " The stars come in to alignment, murphy gets a weekend pass,
and monday finds your hard drive has let the magic smoke out of the
little epoxy cages. You try to stuff all the magic smoke back in, but,
missing a few molecules, you end up replacing drive....

Now is _NOT_ a good time to find that your tape drive is no bargain, and
some of your bits and bytes are not really on that tape you have been
feeding into the machine.

Decide now how many dollars that data is worth, and how long it would
take to rebuild manually. Then consider if a cheap tape drive is worth
the risk....

Most of these drives are kinda like a cheap motorcycle helmet.
Better than nothing, but on the way to the pavement, your REALLY wishin
you had bought a bell.

Just my .02

( After seeing too many customers make this mistake, and wanting to know
why I cant get the data off of the tape for them. )
