Hi all, I am an experienced linux administrator, but am quite unhappy with some linux kernel problems and am trying to take up FreeBSD as my new system. I am now having troubles with starting the X server... Everytime i try to start it, it yields this nasty answer: Fatal server error: xf86OpenConsole: KDENABIO failed (Operation not permitted) I guess it must have something to do with KDE....but in fact i am using windowmaker as my default desktop. Moreover I cant find which file is calling this xf86openconsole, and there is no log output at all. Unfortunately the desktop setup utility doesnt seem to turn off this kdenabio, and since i cant find lsof anywhere (not even under ports) i cant track which files are trying to call this xf86openconsole. Can anyone help me out? All suggestions are very welcome, One more thing. Does anyone have nice web links made for those who are switching from linux to freebsd?? Are there any good docs around to make this switching easier? Many Thanks, Eduardo. -- Eduardo Damato UNIX Systems Administrator - GRC Assessoria de Informática - UNESP email: damato@unesp.br fone: (11) 252-0577 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message
