There seems to have been a change with 4.5-Stable since -Release, as I 
could write CDs then but I can't now (As of 2002-02-15). The Cdrecord port 
has not changed in that time, although I have recompiled it after updating 
to 4.5-Stable.

The blank disc is spat out almost as soon as the write operation starts.

Here is what cdrecord reports:
