I highly recommend using the swaks mail test utility to help with this
type of testing. It's much easier than chatting using telnet. Try it

It all depends upon your postfix configuration but localhost is
probably not listed in mydestination.
rwp@madness:~$ postconf mydestination
mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain, localhost
