I'm aware of the argument brooks has put forth in the past that it adds "needless complexity" however I actually use the existing feature, as do other users. FWIW, I also sent an "I am going to remove this if I don't hear an objection" message to the -rc list, although given the impending freeze I didn't wait as long as I usually would have. Leaving the code "as is" costs us nothing in the common case since the default is AUTO and the code to generate the list of interfaces is super-trivial. Removing the existing feature however would be problematic for at least a vocal subset of our user base. hth, Doug
