Are three seconds a problem?

Here is my next iteration:

# cd /usr
# rm -rf obj src
# cvsup (<tag=.>)
# cd src
# make buildworld
# make -DALWAYS_CHECK_MAKE buildkernel KERNCONF=GENERIC
# make -DALWAYS_CHECK_MAKE installkernel KERNCONF=GENERIC
# mergemaster -p (maybe this is too early???)
<reboot, boot -s>
# fsck -p
# mount -u /
# mount -a
# adjfkerntz -i
# cd /usr/src
# maike installworld

OOPS! The same error... I'm out of ideas.
