--- Comment #3 from Mark Shroyer <mark@shroyer.name> ---
On further investigation, here's what I know so far:

Commit 70253b538f68f2787d5913702337eb600799a3c3 causes the loader to look up my
serial console's info from ACPI SPCR, setting the boot environment variable:

hw.uart.console=db:8,dt:ns8250,mm:0,rs:-4,rw:1,pa:none,br:115200,xo=0

As of 15.0-RELEASE, this setting results in what I assume is a kernel panic,
causing my server to instantaneously reboot. However, manually recreating this
same setting does *not* cause 14.3 to crash; I've separately bisected the
crash-and-instantly-reboot behavior, when in the presence of this
hw.uart.console setting, to commit eae36de826cc6fde3a78b1febad824dad20e004d

https://cgit.freebsd.org/src/commit/?id=eae36de826cc6fde3a78b1febad824dad20e004d

I'm happy to debug further, but I could use some advice on where to go from
here. I've been unable to get a kernel crash dump, so far, by setting dumpdev
to a swap device in the loader.

(But FYI I'll be traveling for the holidays over the next couple weeks, and
will have limited access to this hardware until Jan 1st.)
