there is a delete option to ifconfig and i have tried using it a few times
but it has only worked for me once. what i have noticed is that if i type
in "ifconfig ed0 www.whatever.com alias delete" where www.whatever.com is
the IP address that is aliased the interface seems to stop working so i
usually edit the rc.local file where i have the aliases listed and reboot.
i hope this answers your question and if i am doing something wrong i hope
that somebody will clue me in on what it is....on the other hand could
this be a problem with ifconfig that i'm not aware of?

ps. the systems that i have tried this on are 2.1.X and i haven't tried
it on 2.2.x systems. i also don't really remember if i added the alias
keyword or not but i think that i have tried it both ways with the same
results. i'll have to do it again this weekend and document it so i get
it straight.
