Ditto to those who've replied - no, it is not in make world.  None the
less, the problem manifested immediately after a make world.

Any ideas?  Apparently the version of pico itself is unchanged, I stand
corrected; none the less, what could have caused it to suddenly switch
languages temporarily?  It was not a fluke; the same thing happened each
use.
