I own two laptop NICs right now: they show up on my 3-stable system as
zp0 and xe0.  I don't particularly mind buying another card, but you
certainly understand my concern.  ;)

Anyway, the concensus seems to be the Netgear NIC.  Off to the online
catalog I go.  Thanks to everyone!
