Is there a problem or is everything fine at this point and all I need is the proper commands to move on ? > Thanks in advance! > Don Looks pretty normal to me. You should probably read some introductory Unix text. I believe that O'Reilly has a good one that runs approx. $12 retail (sorry can't recall the exact title). The $ is a shell prompt. The shell prompt can be different, depending on which shell is being used and is also configurable (like almost everything in Unix). Having it installed is a pretty good start. Good luck! It gets mentioned here a lot, but even simple technical questions are best answered on the freebsd-questions list. Find some way to look at the Freebsd handbook. This question and several other simple ones (and many complex ones!) are answered with a little reading.
