See 'man wd' and the options in LINT. It isn't on by default. If it works FreeBSD will say 'DMA' while probing your harddisks at boottime. I wonder why it isn't on by default, because it's just probing for DMA. So if you don't have it you will not get it. And most modern computers can use it.
