I have it too with an Elsa Airlancer MC11 (Lucent/Orinoco chipset) and a Dell Inspiron 8000. I'm always observing it when the signal is not so strong (resulting in 2Mbit speed). The timing situation may be different then. I unplug the PCMCIA card then and let the card getting detached. Then I run manually the command /etc/startif_wi0 which contains the ifconfig commands for the wireless lan. Then I stop dhclient and run it manually (dhclient wi0). Sometimes the system freezes when doing this (especially when I run X - probably the system is panicking behind the X-Screen) > wi0: <Intel PRO/Wireless LAN PC Card> at port 0x100-0x147 irq 5 > function 0 config 1 on pccard0 > =============================================== > wi0: timeout in wi_cmd 0x0000; event status 0x0000 > wi0: wi_cmd: busy bit won't clear > wi0: wi_cmd: busy bit won't clear > (null)0: init failed > device_probe_and_attach: wi0 attach returned 6 -- Chris Christoph P.
