Its an interesting point though - as I discovered that my random hangs went away when I removed the ATA drivers from the kernel. I did this because the ATA cntroller was sharing an interrupt with the SCSI controller that was hanging, but afterwards it occurred to me that the hanging started round about the time the new ATA code went in. If I had the time I would compile in the new code and see if it fixes the problem, though not in the next few days. -pcf.
