I posted a message to Questions and received the response below which resolved half of the problem. I *can* reinstall FBSD without much pain as it was a (mostly) fresh install before I ruined it. But I would *really* like to learn how to fix this as opposed to starting over. I believe there is some part of the install process that creates the default files. What is it and can I run just that part? I thank you for your time! This worked to create the directory structure but it did not create the default files in the structure. Is there some way to do that?
