There shouldn't be, but more recent versions of tcsh may know about
FreeBSD, which older versions didn't.

Question: how did you get tcsh?  Did you build it yourself, or did you
use the package?  Have you tried the tcsh package or port for FreeBSD?

I'm using the packaged tcsh, and haven't experienced the problems you
note with it.

You may well be right about the stty stuff, but tcsh is usually
excessively forgiving about them (to the point where I don't really
care what my stty says in most cases).

Recently, for example, we migrated from SunOS to Solaris at work, but
I didn't notice the stty changes associated with this, since I was
using tcsh, which seems to behave nicely once you compile the Solaris
version.
