My suggestion of the Sangoma card was too rich for the original poster's pocketbook but at something like $650 it's still a pretty good bet with an on-board FT-1 (actually it's a BAT and the GUI monitor even looks exactly like the front of a BAT FT-1). So far we've turned up 4 or 5 of these without a problem. They do provide a FreeBSD 4.X driver and a curses based setup program for both the sync card and the FT-1. They have a support forum and a guy who seems able to provide the FreeBSD support they claim. The Win##/NT GUI monitor is convenient. Frame relay is supported (at least on the FT-1 port). Could connect the second sync connection to existing 56K (64K robbed bit?) if an RS-232 connection and HDLC. Then just plug the future T-1 network cable into the on-board CSU/DSU. S508/FT1 ISA/16 bit. Even run in parallel, if desired. Not sure whether the S514/FT1 PCI/32 bit can be used without the CUS/DSU or not but sync only would do.
