I was reading the jail(2) man page and came across the following:
Further jail() calls chroot(2) internally, so the it can fail for all the
same reasons. Please consult the chroot(2) manual page for details.
I think what was intended was:

I've attached a patch which fixes the mistake. It needs to be applied in
/usr/src/lib/libc/sys, where jail.2 is located.
