Console output: Uncompressing ... Loader 1.00 ... int=0000000d err=00000000 efl=00004016 eip=00036174 eax=00000000 ebx=758c75cae ecx=00000003 edx=00037157 esi=00000000 edi=00007a4b ebp=00166aff esp=00036174 ... cs=002b ds=0033 es=0033 fs=0033 gs=0033 ss=0033 BTX halted [screen output has random characters overwriting text in various places] [system reboots itself after ~1 sec - repeats ad infinitum] This system boots/runs FreeBSD 4.7 and earlier [3.x/4.x] kern.flp images fine. I have seen similar problems with Mandrake Linux kernels, i.e. older kernels boot fine [2.4.17] but newer kernels do not [2.4.19]. There was some mention in Mandrake forums about issues with AMD K6-2 on Socket 7 board [http://mandrakeforum.com/article.php?sid=2108&lang=en] attributed to "kernel VM support causing problems with the K6-2 and its memory paging algorithms". Not sure if that might also be an issue with FreeBSD-5.0-RC1. I got similar results with 5.0-DP2 kern.flp, duplicated with multiple floppy images and on 2 identical systems. These are older systems which do not support CDROM boot, so I can't try that. >How-To-Repeat: Insert 5.0-RC1 kern.flp boot floppy into system. Attempt to boot. Watch it fail and reboot repeatedly. >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: X-send-pr-version: 3.113 X-GNATS-Notify: To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-bugs" in the body of the message
