I know at least 1 netbsd > person has reported similar problems with these new cards, (kern/7216). I use the new Intel Pro/100+ Management adapters in several FreeBSD servers with no problems. I have also have done a FTP install using these adapters without a problem. You probably want to look elsewhere for the cause of the lockup.
