The last post of that forum thread says there was corruption in the ZFS filesystem. http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=9143 That is also a very old thread, so details might not apply any more. But a successful scrub would show both that the filesystem is okay and that ZFS can complete a scrub. (If that's been mentioned already, never mind.)
