Another question is, can FreeBSD read from a USB or Firewire Compact 
Flash (or other media) card readers? That may be your way to use 
FreeBSD for digital photography.

I personally don't use FreeBSD in that way, but I do lots of digital 
photography. I never connect my camera directly to my computer, I just 
went and bought a Firewire CF card reader. It works faster.
