I know people have been running XF86 on DS20s, but I'm unsure as to
what version. They have multiple PCI hoses, but they use a much newer
pci chipset.

The NetBSD and the FreeBSD pci implementations actually differ quite a
bit. It is quite possible that one will work while the other doesn't
on something like this. At any rate, its much more likely the problem
lies in the bus-walking code in XF86 rather than in the per-platform
chipset support code.

If you should happen to try this with FreeBSD, you'll need to put the
VGA controller on the lowest numbered (0th) PCI hose if you're running
-stable.

Good luck!
