it depends on the dependency type (no pun intended).

A BUILD_DEPENDS is easy to check since it can be removed and then see if the
port builds without it.
RUN/LIB_DEPENDS might be trickier. The ports framework helps a bit because runs
some checks and warns if some libraries might not be needed. This can produce
false positives.

In the case at hand, is jasper-libs needed?
