Agreed. One of the primary problems facing anyone trying to learn FreeBSD or anything else for that matter is jargon. Words that are familiar to the knowlegeable may be incomprehensible to neophytes. When there is no choice but to use jargon, the context must illuminate the word's intended meaning.
