I've got a C82 printer, and it prints just fine. My suggestion is to use 
cups. It's much easier to set up a printer with cups than with 
traditional lpd. The only problem you need to be aware of with newer 
USB Epson color printers is to choose the /dev/unlpt0 device.

The cups manual has a lot of good information in it.
