Elastic Agent is pretty useful for monitoring and collecting logs from the
host. It's basically a more advanced version of Beats. It can also act as an
EDR for security & compliance.

I'm actually porting Elastic Agent to FreeBSD on the side. I managed to get it
running, but haven't ran the tests yet. The main issue was that 2 dependencies
needed to be ported as well. One of them was elastic/go-sysinfo, which was
already ported (found in Beats). The other one was
elastic/elastic-agent-system-metrics if I recall correctly, which didn't
require much work.
