So after finding out the VIA ac97 on board of the Asus K7M isn't
supported yet, I went out to CompUSA. That local store had only
two cards in stock, where I knew more about the chip, SB 512pci
and SBLive. as they were almost same priced, I choosed the SBlive.
Downloaded the emu10k1.[ch], integrated into the source, removed
the one NULL at line 1163 (ac97_create), rebuild the kernel.

dmesg from startup:

fourtytwo2 root /root # dmesg | grep pcm
pcm0: <Creative EMU10K1> port 0xcc00-0xcc1f irq 15 at device 15.0 on pci0

fourtytwo2 root /root # cat /dev/sndstat
FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Apr 13 2000 21:55:48
Installed devices:
pcm0: <Creative EMU10K1> at io 0xcc00 irq 15 (1p/0r channels duplex)

Looks all fine, here is the mixer output:

fourtytwo2 root /root # mixer
Mixer vol is currently set to 78:78
Mixer pcm is currently set to 78:78
Mixer speaker is currently set to 80:80
Mixer line is currently set to 78:78
Mixer mic is currently set to 0:0
Mixer cd is currently set to 78:78
Mixer rec is currently set to 0:0
Mixer line1 is currently set to 78:78
Mixer video is currently set to 78:78

But I get no sound, neither from playing an audio cd via
cdcontrol, nor by playing a mp3 file via mpg123. No static,
no nothing.

Again, any one have an idea what could be the problem ?
