If I abort the process, the computer panics. I always fdformat a floppy before running DD because I find that DOS fomatting of the disk does not catch all of the surface errors. The floppy disks that were marked bad by FreeBSD 9 were successfully formatted by my laptop that runs OpenBSD 5.
