i've tried and tried the boot -s to boot into single user mode. is a possiblity that i hosed the conf file in etc that controls the boot loader? if so would that allow it to still boot to mutiuser but not single user? just a thought any ideas on what to do since single user mode doesn't work? i even tried booting linux off another drive to be able to mount the partition, but that doesn't work either...what can i do? nathan __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help?
