It shouldn't make any difference.

What's an "iomega zip for WinNT"?  Is it SCSI or ATAPI?

Have you tried leaving the system for a couple of minutes?  There is a 
symptom under some circumstances where the system will pause for that 
sort of period before bringing the installer up.

Also, try booting to the configuration editor (commandline) and say
'flags npx0 0x7'.  This disables some optimisations which have been 
known to cause these symptoms.
