I just compiled and re-installed gimp-0.99.31, worked great. All I did to "clean up" my old install was delete the ~/.gimp directory, which has been problematic in prior attempts. make; make reinstall worked great. One minor hitch was that gtk-1.03 extracted into /usr/ports/x11/gtk/work/gtk-1.02 which I had to change to gtk-1.03 for it to work. A few days ago gimp-devel died on installation of xdelta-0.18, this time it was happy with xdelta-0.14 I guess, cause that's all I have in /var/db/pkg carry on...
