Is the IBM drive new? What does dmesg report as it's string. Does it look like: ad0: xxxxxxMB <IBM-DLTA...... or like ad0: xxxxxxMB <IC35..... If it's the latter, it's a new drive and you will have to modify ata-disk.c in the kernel source to recognise it.
