The following reply was made to PR misc/10667; it has been noted by GNATS. From: gsutter@pobox.com To: freebsd-gnats-submit@freebsd.org Cc: Subject: misc/10667: Sysinstall inserts multiple # -- sysinstall generated deltas -- # lines in /etc/rc.conf Date: Thu, 18 Mar 1999 21:27:35 -0800 (PST) >Number: 10667 >Category: misc >Synopsis: Sysinstall inserts multiple # -- sysinstall generated deltas -- # lines in /etc/rc.conf >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-bugs >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Thu Mar 18 21:30:00 PST 1999 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Gregory Sutter >Release: 3.1-19990318-STABLE >Organization: >Environment: FreeBSD 001101.zer0.org 3.1-STABLE FreeBSD 3.1-STABLE #5: Wed Mar 17 19:53:15 PST 1999 root@001101.zer0.org:/usr/src/sys/compile/001101 i386 >Description: When sysinstall is used to modify defaults in /etc/rc.conf, it inserts a fresh # -- sysinstall generated deltas -- # line each time it is used, leaving no spaces after previous edits. This is senseless. >How-To-Repeat: repeatedly use /stand/sysinstall to edit configuration information. Look at the /etc/rc.conf file after a few edits. >Fix: Either have a "begin sysinstall edit 199903182201" line, then the changes, then "end sysinstall edit 199903182201" line, or have it check for the previous # -- sysinstall generated deltas -- # line and append to the data after that. Neither way is ideal, but I have no better suggestions at the moment. >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-bugs" in the body of the message To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-bugs" in the body of the message
