Sorry about that. I assumed that an RJ-45 did imply ethernet, i.e. the T-1
had already gone through a CSU/DSU or something.

              Yes you could do this, but only if you have a DTE/DCE T-1 card
in your FreeBSD box.  The RJ-45 does not imply ethernet.

             You could do this, or you could go directly from the router's
ethernet port to the FreeBSD box.
