I know that they're not proper "active GUI objects" and they don't even come close to performing like the classic mixed radio/multi-check menus you get with a real GUI environment! Dialog has some nice features, but it falls short of being a true "GUI object".. One of the casualties of this is that doing both selection and status display in the same menu doesn't work very well.
