What's wrong with hard links?

# ls -l /bin/csh /bin/tcsh
16112 -r-xr-xr-x  2 root  wheel  740880 Aug 10 14:35 csh
16112 -r-xr-xr-x  2 root  wheel  740880 Aug 10 14:35 tcsh
