(4x, maybe ACER CD-drive) I had a similar problem (with an ACER 747<some letter>, IIRC), the multi-session support code in the old ATAPI driver decided it wanted to mount the partition at a strange offset. Using "-s 0" as a mount option helped (although I didn't discover this until after creating a modified cd9660 lkm).
