My suggested workaround still works flawlessly. When started "later" ipfw does
not crash here. The machine now is up for weeks without any problems and it
also comes back up alive after a reboot.
So I did not investigate any further during the last weeks.
But if you tell me to try out some new changes, I will.

Sadly, here is no L2 filtering going on at all.
