I would normally advise people to avoid purchasing Acer products based on their track record for producing incompatible and low-quality hardware. > I'm thinking about getting a ALN-211 card. > They're cheap, and it says they support PCI bus-master. > > I just don't know about the chipset. Looking at the picture on the webpage, the ALN-211 is almost certainly based on one of the Digital chips (the logo is pretty distinctive). The ALN-201 on the other hand, has a glossy Acer logo over the chip; if it's not one of their own parts, it's probably a Realtek RTL-8029 or a similar PCI NE2000 clone. > I'm hoping they have the DEC tulip > chip, but,..., seems doubtful You *should* be OK with the 211. -- \\ Sometimes you're ahead, \\ Mike Smith \\ sometimes you're behind. \\ mike@smith.net.au \\ The race is long, and in the \\ msmith@freebsd.org \\ end it's only with yourself. \\ msmith@cdrom.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hardware" in the body of the message
