I'm not able to reproduce your panic on my box, but all I've done is 'ifconfig' the sl0 device w/out running sltattach, and everything 'works' as well as can be expected (I don't have anything on the other end of the connection so *nothing* happens.) > I do have a SMC EliteCard, which is apparently not supported -- at > least not by the dedicated drivers. Is it? No, but it may be supported by the if_ed driver, and the 8/1 SNAP has the pccard diffs. The documentation is *very* sparse, but if you look at the manpage for 'pccardd', and at the file /etc/pccard.conf.same, plus the tail end of /etc/sysconfig you might be able to figure out how it works. If you have questions, send me private email and I'll try to help out. It's the least I can do for one of the 'gurus' of TCP/IP. :) Nate
