I've just got a new machine in and noticed (much to my chagrin) that it's got a 2940U2W card on board. I didn't think much of it as I popped in my 3.1-current floppy to install. It booted up just fine and I let it install last night. However, this morning after rebooting it fails to boot off the hard drive. :-( It begins the boot process and hangs at the "Waiting 15 seconds for SCSI devices to settle" message. Once there it requires a hard reboot. I've done some searching of the mailing list archives to find related details and it looks like CAM support is what I need, so: What version(s) of FreeBSD will work in this config? I'd much rather be tracking the STABLE tree than the CURRENT one but I do need to be using a version that supports this card and drive(s). Oddly enough, I reinstalled a "minimum" install from the 3.1-RELEASE tree again and now it boots. :-P The kernel's are exactly the same size but the old one didn't boot. <scratching head> So, should this always work and the hanging problem an isolated incident?
