Hi Folks, I recently updated one of my hosts with STABLE via "make installworld" and mergemaster. After the update, I found something strange. /usr/src and /usr/obj gets empty after peropdic daily is executed via /etc/crontab. # ls -l /usr /raid1 /raid1: total 6 1 drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 512 Jun 7 23:10 home/ 1 drwxr-xr-x 16 root wheel 512 Aug 20 08:55 usr.local/ 1 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Aug 14 01:20 usr.obj/ 2 drwxr-xr-x 57 root wheel 1536 Aug 22 14:08 usr.ports/ 1 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Aug 14 01:20 usr.src/ /usr: total 32 1 drwxr-xr-x 10 root wheel 512 May 19 12:23 X11R6/ 7 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 6656 Aug 24 06:54 bin/ 1 drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 512 May 3 06:55 compat/ 1 drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 1024 Aug 24 06:49 games/ 4 drwxr-xr-x 39 root wheel 3584 Aug 24 06:54 include/ 7 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 7168 Aug 24 06:54 lib/ 1 drwxr-xr-x 9 root wheel 512 May 3 06:49 libdata/ 2 drwxr-xr-x 8 root wheel 1536 Aug 24 06:54 libexec/ 0 lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 18 Aug 21 07:56 local@ -> ../raid1/usr.local 0 lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 16 Aug 21 07:56 obj@ -> ../raid1/usr.obj 0 lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 18 Aug 21 07:57 ports@ -> ../raid1/usr.ports 5 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 4608 Aug 24 06:54 sbin/ 1 drwxr-xr-x 26 root wheel 512 May 3 06:52 share/ 0 lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 16 Aug 21 07:56 src@ -> ../raid1/usr.src 1 drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 512 Aug 24 04:42 sup/ 1 drwxrwxrwt 2 root wheel 512 Aug 20 06:15 tmp/ As you see above, /usr/src and /usr/obj are symlinked to /raid1/usr.src and /usr/obj, respectively so both /usr and /raid1 are shown. Pay attention to the date of usr.obj and usr.src. These two directories are ALWAYS emptied then set date to " Aug 14 01:20" (JST). I looked through /usr/periodic/daily/* and found nothing. Does anyone here know what the heck is going on? FYI the server here is my scratch server so I have lost nothing important. But I am too scare to test the update on other servers.
