With the 980716 snap, the troublesome CDROM is probed correctly :

da2 at bt0 bus 0 target 2 lun 0
da2: <QUANTUM LPS540S 590S> Fixed Direct Access SCSI2 device
da2: 10.0MB/s transfers (10.0MHz, offset 8)
da2: 516MB (1057616 512 byte sectors: 64H 32S/T 516C)
da1 at bt0 bus 0 target 1 lun 0
da1: <COMPAQ C2247 0BC4> Fixed Direct Access SCSI2 device
da1: 10.0MB/s transfers (10.0MHz, offset 8), Tagged Queueing Enabled
da1: 1001MB (2051000 512 byte sectors: 64H 32S/T 1001C)
da0 at bt0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0
da0: <CONNER CFA270S P109> Fixed Direct Access SCSI2 device

da0: 257MB (528354 512 byte sectors: 64H 32S/T 257C)
cd1 at bt0 bus 0 target 6 lun 0 <-- this one
cd1: <NEC CD-ROM DRIVE:500 2.5> Removable CD-ROM SCSI2 device
cd1: 5.0MB/s transfers (5.0MHz, offset 12)
cd1: cd present [314225 x 2048 byte records]
da3 at bt0 bus 0 target 3 lun 0
da3: <QUANTUM VIKING 4.5 SCA 880R> Fixed Direct Access SCSI2 device
da3: 10.0MB/s transfers (10.0MHz, offset 15), Tagged Queueing Enabled
da3: 4345MB (8899737 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 553C)
cd0 at bt0 bus 0 target 5 lun 0
cd0: <NEC CD-ROM DRIVE:222 3.1k> Removable CD-ROM SCSI2 device
cd0: 6.756MB/s transfers (6.756MHz, offset 15)
cd0: cd present [314673 x 2048 byte records]

But if cd1 is accessed while there is activity on another drive,
the system will pause about every minute or so with the leds on cd1, the
controller, and the other drive lit, then continue 15-20 seconds later
with the following messages logged :

As long as cd1 isn't being accessed, no problems occur even with heavy
access on multiple drives. The controller info again is :

bt0: <Buslogic Multimaster SCSI host adapter> rev 0x08 int a irq 17 on pci0.19.0
bt0: BT-948 FW Rev. 5.06I Ultra Narrow SCSI Host Adapter, SCSI ID 7, 192 CCBs

I'll try to see if this happens on a BT-445c as well.

Thanks,
Shafeeq
