Updated info: I once more tried to update the "real machine", disabling ipfw
during the update process
This worked (like it did before already).
Then I deleted all "table" rules, converting the more than 1000 entries to
"normal" rules and restarted ipfw.
This is still working (for some hours now, before the machine die not survi=
ve
even 5mins).

So I guess, the problem is within the table processing of ipfw.

Let it run for some more days, then we can say if this is the right spot to
look after.
