I'm looking for a way to turn a midi file into a text file, maybe run a script on it, do some editing, and turn it back into a midi file again. Rosegarden's notator doesn't work well enough because its text file ignores too much of the details that I want to tweak with. Under DOS I started using a bunch of utilities which did the trick (http://ww2.iicm.edu/Cpub), but there's no DOS here any more. The utilities come with source code, but I can't get them to compile under FreeBSD. I don't know if they would work or not. I do know that I'm not clever enough to find out. Maybe someone else has? Before I go cross-eyed trying to edit the midi files directly, has anyone else done what I'm trying to do? Is there anything else around that will convert midis to and from ASCII? -- Regards, -*Sue*- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-multimedia" in the body of the message
