Is it libc.so.3.0 or libc.sco.3.0?  There is no libc.sco on FreeBSD, and
you can get libc.so.3.0 by copying /usr/lib/libc.so.2.2 to libc.so.3.0.
This will work fine.

For some reason there is something that your users start (a shell?) that
was a package bound for 2.2 but you installed it on 2.1.x.  There
shouldn't be any problems though.

You did pull the des for 2.1.7-RELEASE and not 2.2-GAMMA?
