Two things could have been done:

1. Upgrade to 8.x which seems to support 3.10
2. Upgrade in latest AFTER 2026Q3 has been branched.

Both would have avoided pain, but others can move forward.

I agree with you that Python is constantly pushing people which creates churn
and pain downstream. At the end, shpinx isn't just a leaf port, it is basically
everywhere and should be treated with great care.
