I was able to successfully build JDK 1.4.1 from the ports tree last 
night on FreeBSD 5.0-RELEASE with the patched libc_r.

Haven't tried it yet, since I was done late last night, but it looked 
ok. 'java -showversion' worked ok, but that's not saying much.
