: Plugging and unplugging a PS/2 device when the computers are on scares : me. I heard it can fry the motherboard. I don't touch the cables after : turning everything on. I don't have any problems after switching banks : on the KVM back and forth. I have one old 486 with a shot keyboard port from doing the plugging. I have one newer pentium 133 that has a weak keyboard port from sitting on a noisy kvm switch for too long. I had two different Pentium II 400ish machines whose keyboard and mouse ports went bad after being on a mechanical switch for a while. I hot plug these things every day at work, but there are dangers and risks to it.
